With the advent of the industrial revolution, the rapid development of machinery and transportation has brought about issues of noise and vibration, which not only affect people's mood and hearing but can also lead to health problems, damage machinery, shorten its service life, and increase safety hazards. To effectively address these issues, damping materials have become key to controlling the source of vibration.

How can we determine whether a material has good damping properties? There are two main criteria: First, the size of the loss factor tanδ can be used to judge, with a larger value indicating better damping effects. Second, the material's behavior upon the removal of external forces can be observed. Ordinary TPE materials will immediately return to their original shape after the external force is removed, while damping materials will slowly rebound, showing a noticeable hysteresis effect. When subjected to external forces, the molecular chains of damping materials absorb energy and displace, as the rigid structure of the damping material's polymer chains allows them to store energy when deformed. When the external force disappears, this energy is released, allowing the material to return to its original shape while absorbing and dissipating some of the vibrational energy. Additionally, damping materials can convert external vibrational energy into heat through internal friction caused by relative slippage or twisting of polymer chain segments and dissipate it, effectively reducing the amplitude of vibration.

Methods to achieve damping effects in TPE materials include: adjusting the glass transition temperature range of blended materials to enhance compatibility and expand the damping temperature range; increasing graft-modified materials to raise the number of polar genes and side chains, increasing the internal energy loss when polymer chain segments move; and adding nano-inorganic fillers to strengthen the weak adhesion and interfacial friction between nanoparticles and polymers.

Our company's GP520 shock absorption series is a special type of TPE material, known for its excellent shock absorption and plasticity. It is mainly used in sports safety equipment such as sports knee pads, yoga mats, and jump rope carpets, effectively reducing the impact injuries to the human body in case of accidents. Moreover, our material is widely used in the automotive industry and household appliances, such as car screens, mobile phone holder pads, and overmolding with electric tool handle, to reduce the amplitude of vibration during use and enhance the user experience.

In the construction industry, our material is also used for soundproofing wall linings, effectively reducing noise transmission. Our material has a significant damping effect and can absorb a large amount of impact energy. If you are interested in our products, please feel free to choose us.
